Biomimetic Algorithms: Rattlesnake Orchids
2020-Ongoing with research assistant Ian HarmonMaterials: Acrylic
Inspired by the Goodyera pubescens, more commonly known as the Rattlesnake Orchid, these plates depict artistic variations of the variegation patterns found within its leaves. Using Grasshopper, we produced these patterns through a jittered variation of a Voronoi structure that has been geometricized into different polygons and concentrations. We hope to continue with this piece to create freestanding embroidered lace that represents various flora native to Georgia in the near future.
